The Fariborz Maseeh Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering welcomes new faculty members Andrew Fix, Zhaomiao Guo and Othman Oudghiri-Idrissi.
Andrew Fix
With a background in thermal systems engineering, Andrew Fix joins us from the University of Maryland where he currently works as a postdoctoral scholar. He received his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Purdue University and now focuses on novel dehumidification materials/systems, heat pump technologies, and gas separations.
Zhaomiao Guo
Currently an assistant professor at the University of Central Florida, Zhaomiao Guo's expertise is in multi-agent modeling and computation. His research focuses on the reliability and resilience of critical infrastructure systems, particularly in the interactions between transportation and energy systems. After receiving his Ph.D. in civil engineering from the University of California at Davis in 2016, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Argonne National Laboratory.
Othman Oudghiri-Idrissi
Joining us from the University of Michigan as a postdoctoral research fellow, Othman Oudghiri-Idrissi’s work focuses on space engineering, specifically designing in-space manufacturable structures such as solar arrays, antennas and optical systems. Oudghiri-Idrissi also has expertise in mechanical metamaterials, homogenization, waves in complex media, inverse problems and non-destructive evaluation. He received his Ph.D. in civil engineering from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, in 2022.
