What are the minimum admissions requirements?

There are currently no precise minimum admissions requirements to be admitted into UT Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering as they change on a yearly basis depending on the pool of applicants. The Office of Admissions reviews all applications and makes decisions using a holistic review process when reviewing applications. Students who have automatic admission to UT do not obtain a guaranteed spot into the Cockrell School of Engineering; admission into engineering is also based on a variety of factors. The entire application is taken into consideration so we recommend spending a considerable amount of time working on the essays, letters of recommendation, resume, etc.

What are the application deadlines?

For incoming freshman: Students applying for admission from high school, the deadline for fall semester admission is December 1. The application and all required documents must be received by this deadline. If a student is retaking the SAT/ACT, admission will take the later test as long as there is one on file by the deadline.

We recommend that you stay up-to-date with the admissions process by visiting the Office of Admissions website.

Can I apply for spring admission?

No. Currently we only accept applications for the summer and fall semesters.

How do I get into civil, architectural and environmental engineering if I was admitted into UT, but not into the CAEE department?

UT students who were not admitted into the civil, architectural or environmental engineering programs can refer to the Internal Transfer Application Instructions provided by the Cockrell School of Engineering.

How can I visit UT?

We encourage you to visit campus and take part in an admissions information session and tour of the campus. The admissions info session is helpful if you have more questions about the application process. You can set this up online by visiting the Office of Admissions website.

The Cockrell School of Engineering also offers information sessions to prospective students and their families where you can where more about engineering at UT. Visit the Engineering Information Sessions section on their website.

How can I be considered for scholarships?

All first time college students are considered for scholarships if you complete the scholarship application by December 1. Scholarship decisions are made by the Cockrell School of Engineering Scholarship Office. Both the college and department distributes scholarships based on several criteria including a combination of high school rank, quantitative scores on the SAT/ACT and financial need.

A student who does not receive a scholarship prior to their first semester is eligible to receive one when first semester grades are posted. Currently, any student receiving a 3.0 or higher in residence GPA who has completed the engineering scholarship application is eligible to be considered for a departmental scholarship.

I already have a bachelor's degree, but I am interested in applying for admission to the CAEE undergraduate program. What steps must I take?

If you have earned a bachelor's from a different school, you would apply for admission to CAEE as an external transfer student.
