Recipient Priscilla Nguyen was honored at this year's Academy of Distinguished Alumni Annual Banquet in October.
Priscilla Nguyen is a structural engineer at Martinez Moore Engineers (MME) in the Houston office and has more than seven years of experience. She joined MME in February 2022 after working in California for the first 5 years of her career. She has design and analysis experience in various sectors, including health care, higher education, science and technology. Priscilla received her B.S. in architectural engineering from The University of Texas at Austin and M.S. in civil engineering with a structural focus from Stanford University. Priscilla is a licensed professional and structural engineer in the states of California and Texas. She has an interest in the equitable and sustainable design of the built environment to provide safe spaces that all communities can experience.
She is a member of the Sustainable Design (SDC) and Structural Engineering, Engagement and Equity (SE3) committees of the National Council of Structural Engineers Associations (NCSEA) and served as co-chair of the SE3 Committee for the Structural Engineers Association of Northern California (SEAONC) in 2022-23. Priscilla has co-authored and given presentations with SEAONC SE3 on four publications that focus on the racial demographics of the civil and structural engineering pathway. She is a past president of the San Francisco Bay Area (SFBA) Professional chapter of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), during which the chapter received the 2020-2021 National Chapter of the Year award. Priscilla currently volunteers as a mentor for the ACE Mentor Program, encouraging Houston-area high school students to pursue careers in the AEC industry.
