Javad Mohammadi joined the Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin as an assistant professor in our Building Energy and Environments group on July 1, 2021.

Prior to joining UT, Javad was a faculty in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU). Javad is an IEEE senior member and a recipient of the Innovation Fellowship from Swartz Center for Entrepreneurship at CMU. His research interests include multi-agent optimization and machine learning in networked cyber-physical systems including smart grid-interactive buildings, power grid, and electrified transportation systems. Javad received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from CMU.

"Our aging electric infrastructure (stretching from end-users and buildings to power plants) is underprepared to deal with severe weather conditions, energy transition policies, and decarbonization expectations. The CAEE department is well-positioned to lead the way in addressing these emerging issues and I look forward to collaborating with colleagues, students, and industry partners to build the future energy grid," said Mohammadi.
