Dr. Fidel Saenz de Ormijana holds a degree in Civil Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (Spain), and M.S. and Doctorate (Ph.D.) Degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. He has 40 years’ design experience, both in the water resources and transportation fields, spanning several continents including 16 years practice in North America.
In his present position as Ferrovial Construction’s Chief Technical Officer, he has overall responsibility over the engineering and technical side of all company’s activities worldwide, both during the tender and final delivery phase of projects. A member of the Board of Directors, he heads the in-house Engineering Services organization with 200+ staff located across four continents. He has authored over twenty publications and been active in academia, including six years as a professor in the College of Civil Engineering (Polytechnic University, Madrid). His major expertise areas are hydraulic and dam engineering, civil and roadway design, and design and value engineering management, especially in the context of Public-Private Partnership and Design-Build projects.
