Norman Dennis is an emeritus University Professor of Civil Engineering and former Senior Associate Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Arkansas. His research interests included remote sensing techniques for site characterization, slope stability, autonomous monitoring of transportation systems and nondestructive methods of soil characterization. He has been actively engaged with faculty development and engineering education activities for over 35 years. He is a past chair of the Transportation Earthworks Committee of the Transportation Research Board and the ASCE Committee on Education. Before joining the U of A faculty in 1996, he served in the U.S. Army as an engineer officer for 24 years. During his military career Norm had the unique opportunity to build roads, airfields and other facilities on five continents and spend 12 years as a member of the faculty at the United States Military Academy. Dennis is a fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the American Society for Engineering Education.
