Robert Cushing is a senior vice president with Carollo Engineers, bringing 27 years of experience in applied environmental science and engineering. Throughout his career, he has integrated fundamental concepts with sound engineering practices to develop innovative and lasting solutions for water and wastewater utilities. Dr. Cushing has successfully managed numerous treatment facility planning and design projects, as well as studies and programs aimed at enhancing distribution system water quality.

Cushing's practice spans nationally, serving a diverse range of clients from large, high-profile utilities like New York City and Washington, D.C., to small, specialized applications such as the Ouray National Fish Hatchery in Utah. He has been pivotal in introducing advanced technologies, particularly UV disinfection for potable water treatment. An internationally recognized expert in this field, Dr. Cushing has conducted seminal applied research and served as project manager and primary author for the USEPA UV Disinfection Guidance Manual.
