Lee Lawrence is a Senior Principal and the Associate Executive Director of Practice Development at Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. (WJE), where he also serves as the Regional Director for the company's southeast region. With a Bachelor of Science (1986) and a Master of Science (1998) in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, Mr. Lawrence has a distinguished career marked by his founding leadership of the WJE Austin branch office and subsequent regional oversight of seven WJE branch offices, managing over 130 staff. His extensive experience includes design, investigation, and repair design services for a diverse array of structures, such as precast concrete, nuclear power facilities, bridges, and various infrastructure projects. As the Director of Practice Development, he spearheads efforts to advance WJE’s professional practice and in-house research programs.

Before joining WJE, Mr. Lawrence held several key roles at the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), including Director of the Precast Concrete Branch and Project Engineer in both the Structural Group and the District Design Office. His project portfolio features significant failure and material investigations, including the structural evaluation of a 550-foot-tall chimney foundation for LCRA, a multi-mile pipeline failure in Central Texas, and the collapse investigations of parking garages at Miami Dade College and University Health System. Additionally, he has contributed to numerous repair and rehabilitation projects, such as the condition evaluation and service life modeling for the Queen Isabella Causeway in South Padre Island, TX, and the corrosion evaluation and repair design for the Summit Condominiums in South Padre Island, TX. Mr. Lawrence’s comprehensive expertise in civil engineering and his leadership in both public and private sectors underscore his significant contributions to the field.
