Dominic J. Kelly has been with Simpson Gumpertz & Heger Inc. (SGH) since 2000 and brings over twenty-five years of experience as a consultant in structural design, repair, and investigation of both building and non-building structures. With extensive expertise on both the East and West Coasts, he is an active member of committees responsible for developing seismic design and concrete building codes. His profound understanding of structural-related problems allows him to create innovative solutions that reflect a realistic understanding of the performance of various structures. Dominic's areas of expertise include structural engineering, seismic engineering, concrete design and evaluation, prestressed wire-wound tanks and other tank structures, heavy transport and lifting, prestressed concrete, and structural failure investigations.
As a Senior Principal at SGH, Dominic is a registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) in 24 states in the U.S. and 3 provinces in Canada and is a Board Certified Structural Engineer. His distinguished career includes contributions to over 160 significant engineering projects involving structural designs, investigations, and repairs. He is a Fellow of the American Concrete Institute and has received numerous awards, such as the Alfred E. Lindau Award for outstanding contributions to reinforced concrete design practice (2021) and the International Concrete Repair Institute Award of Excellence, Special Projects Category (2020). He has also been honored with the Arthur J. Boase Award of the Concrete Research Council for his advancements in concrete technology. Dominic has chaired or been a member of more than 25 technical committees, showcasing his dedication to the field of structural engineering.
