Lizan Gilbert is a distinguished leader in the tunneling industry, with over 23 years of experience in the design and construction of heavy civil and tunnel projects across the United States. Known for her strong leadership and team-oriented approach, she excels in challenging work environments. Her expertise spans various tunneling methods, including Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM), Sequential Excavation Method (SEM), drill and blast, and hand-mined tunnels.

Currently, Lizan is the Principal in Charge/Senior Executive at Kiewit Infrastructure Co.'s Underground District, where she oversees major projects like the North Tunnel CMAR in Howard County, Maryland. She plays a key role in guiding preconstruction efforts and ensuring project success. She also manages preconstruction for the FERMI LBNF CMAR project in South Dakota, collaborating with organizations such as Fermi Research Alliance and CERN.

Before joining Kiewit, Lizan held prominent roles at Hill International and Guy F. Atkinson Construction, LLC. At Hill International, she led nationwide construction and program management pursuits as Vice President of Underground. At Atkinson, she managed major projects, including the Quarry A and Raw Water Pump Station in Virginia, Mill Creek Trunk and Equalization Improvements in Tennessee, and the Plane Train Tunnel West Extension in Atlanta, Georgia.

Lizan’s broad experience, solid educational background, and active professional community involvement have established her as a respected leader in the tunneling industry. Her ability to lead complex projects and develop effective teams contributes to the successful delivery of critical infrastructure projects across the nation.
