Jim Nichols

Jim Nichols is a retired pavement design, management, and research expert with over 50 years of experience in the field. He served as the Principal Investigator of the Western Region Long Term Pavement Performance Study, funded and managed by the National Research Council. Jim founded Nichols Consulting Engineers, where he initially supported the Federal Highway Administration by developing and presenting training classes and supporting pavement performance experiments. He concluded his illustrious career by teaching at Truckee Meadows Community College. Beyond his professional achievements, Jim has been a prominent figure in the arts community, having served as President of the Sierra Arts Council in Reno, NV, and winning the Nevada Governor Arts Award for Patronage of the Arts. An Eagle Scout, Jim also contributes to the musical arts as the Second Trombone for the Reno Wind Symphony.
