University of Missouri-Columbia (UM)

UM was founded in 1839 as the first public university west of the Mississippi River, the first public university in Thomas Jefferson's Louisiana Purchase territory. In fall 2002, MU welcomed 26,124 students representing every county in Missouri, every state in the nation and more than 100 countries — it’s the largest enrollment in MU history.

Department of Civil Engineering

At the UM Department of Civil Engineering, students can specialize in any of the following areas: Structural Engineering; Reinforced Concrete and Steel Design; Environmental and Hydraulic Engineering; Traffic and Transportation Engineering; and Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering.

The mission of the Department of Student Life is to create educationally purposeful experiences for students that promote involvement, learning, and success.
