UT: University Resources
UT has a wealth of resources for students, faculty, and the community. Below are some short cuts to navigating the university website. International Office The International Office offers extraordinary support to UT's 4,500 international students. They offer English as a Second Language classes, organize trips to San Antonio, Houston, and other locations, and take care of all questions regarding visas, among other things. Libraries UT's General Libraries system has several libraries with a rich collection of materials, as well as several online databases. Of particular importance are the records held at the Lyndon B. Johnson Presidential Library and Museum, and the Benson Latin American Collection, the best university collection of it's kind in the world Arts and Film The UT Performing Arts Center has full calendar of events at its two facilities, Bass Concert Hall and Hogg Auditorium. It includes opera, dance, theatre, and music from around the world. The PAC has an excellent program called Artes Américas, which brings many Latin American artists to the perform at the university. Students can purchase Rush tickets for $10 the day of a show. The Texas Union Theatre has film screenings almost nightly for a variety of film series, including their Blockbuster series, the Brazilian Film Series, and other events. Sports All students enrolled at UT receive memberships at Recreational Sports, which has two gym facilities on campus with lots of equipment, space, classes, and even a rock climbing wall. Students can also purchase a sports package including tickets to ALL UT athletic events at a discounted price, including the sold out football and basketball games. A real American cultural experience! Informal Classes Informal classes are short courses that offer a great opportunity to study tai chi, mountain climbing, watercolor painting, computer programming, and much more. Students receive discounted rates. Health University Health Services offers a wide range of services to students, including Allergy and Immunization Clinics, Women's Health Care, Sports Medicine, a pharmacy, and more. |
