UFPE is located in Recife, northeastern Brazil, capital of the State of Pernambuco. Recife is a city where the average temperature year-round is a comfortable 80oF and with sunny beaches that provide a background for a successful study abroad experience Recife is the capital of the state of Pernambuco and a major cultural and folklore center. Recife is characterized by rivers and bridges that crisscross the city and make many people consider it the “Venice of Brazil”. The neighboring town of Olinda is of historical interest and has been declared a Cultural and Natural Monument by UNESCO.
