Slide 11 of 24
The process of applying naUTilus to an industrial sewer network through ArcView consists of several pre-ArcView steps, as well as use of the customized ArcView project.
- Representing the sewer network: A schematic diagram may be the only available representation of a sewer network. If this is the case, the diagram must be digitized. It can then be processed in Arc/Info to create two coverages; one coverage describes the nodes (point elements) of the sewer network and the other describes the branches (line elements).
- Storing files as specified: To deal with the problem of naUTilus over-writing output files, as well as to allow ArcView to import all ISBL and OSBL coverage files, a file storage format has been developed. A description and schematic of the format are shown on the next slide.
