Notes:
Here are some preliminary results for a steady state MODFLOW simulation in the lube plant area, which is in the southwest corner of the refinery. I have had some particular difficulty with developing a subsurface description simply because of the complexity of the site. In fact, most of this area was originally part of the Delaware River, so the top soil layer is predominantly fill. For this model, I have been using a 3 layer simplification. The red contours are the highest head and the blue contours are the lower heads. This eastern boundary of the lube area is Marcus Hook Creek, and the southern boundary is the Delaware River. This result is good in that the water does flow towards the creeks and river, but it is still going to require some modification. I am not completely sure this is what is actually happening based on known groundwater level measurements.
