• Quantifying non-carcinogenic effects

  • evaluated by comparing the estimated dose with the reference dose (RfD).
  • ratio is called the Hazard Quotient (HQ)

• HQ = Intake / RfD

  • Intake = Applied Dose or Absorbed Dose
• a Hazard Quotient of less than one is typically considered to be of no concern.

• Acceptable Hazard Quotient < 1
