Remind the class that we have already discussed the identification of the exposure pathways
Specifically that a complete exposure pathways requires:
a source and mechanism for chemical release into the environment
a transport medium (for example, air, soil, ground water) for the chemical to move from the source to the receptor
a point of of exposure
an uptake route or means for taking the chemical into the body (for example, ingestion, inhalation)
a receptor
So far we have discussed the source, transport mechanism and point of exposure.
Now we need to discuss the determination of risk to the receptor by looking at the routes a chemical will take to get into the body and the potential adverse effects of that chemical once it has gotten into the body
