Introduction

The purpose of this term paper is to analyze a subject of interest in a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) format.  During my education at the University of Texas, I will be performing research in the GIS field relating to TMDL development for the Basin Group C in the State of Texas.   Therefore, I have a vested interest in this area, and will be performing the beginning steps of this research for my term paper.  The organization is as follows.

I will present the background of my research, consisting of the actual tasks at hand, and the area I selected as my focus.   Then, I will describe the data I worked with, and the sources of the information.   Next, I will describe the procedure I followed, starting with my original intent and describing how my project, like many others, has evolved over the semester.  I will then show how my work can be applied in a practical setting.  Finally, I will describe the complications I encountered over the semester, make conclusions with regard to my work, and detail tasks which can be elaborated on in the future.
