Notes:
Greenhouse gases can cause changes in climate
- CO2 is the primary concern
- It is generated through natural processes as well as the combustion of fossil fuels
- CO2 traps the sun’s heat and causes a redistribution of the energy
- Climatologists call this a radiative forcing
Impacts of climate change:
- Edwards Aquifer region would become slightly more arid
- At the global scale, ecological zones would shift, weather would become more unstable, and sea levels would rise
Arid conditions would cause a redistribution of precipitation for thestudy region; more water would be lost to evaporation and less waterwould become runoff
Average water levels and spring flows would decrease
- with a growing population, the aquifer would be overdrafted more often
