The results of varying windspeed are shown above. Windspeed in meters per second is on the X-axis. On the Y-axis is Stripping Efficiency. Stripping efficiency is defined as the total mass of a chemical emitted to the atmosphere over the total mass discharged to the unit.
Both benzene and 1,3-butadiene show an increase in stripping efficiency with increases in wind speed, particularly in the range with wind speed below 1.5 m/s. Methanol, a chemical of low volatility, shows little response to wind speed.
