
Matt Hebdon joined the Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin as an associate professor in our Structural Engineering group on August 1, 2021.
Prior to joining UT, Matt was a faculty member in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Virginia Tech University. Matt earned his B.S. and M.S. in civil and environmental engineering from Utah State University in 2005 and his Ph.D. in civil engineering from Purdue University in 2015. He is an expert in fatigue and fracture of steel structures. His research includes large-scale testing of structures, in situ monitoring and testing, the use of drones for structural inspection, and the evaluation and repair of deteriorated infrastructure
