Industry Engagement

Let’s Work Together

Working with the The Fariborz Maseeh Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering means access to our distinguished community of faculty, staff and students who are changing the world. Improve your ability to recruit top talent, expand research initiatives and support the next generation of leaders by building strong relationships between your company and Texas CAEE.

Student Recruitment

Connect with talented undergraduate and graduate engineering students through our innovative, targeted and customized programs like our annual Industry Open House.

Not your usual career fair, this event allows professionals and students to connect in an environment that both educates and simultaneously inspires. While typical career fairs focus on job and internship openings, Industry Open House is intended to be an educational experience for our students. Engineers can also be lawyers, entrepreneurs, advisors, philanthropists…opportunities are endless and we want our students to see this first hand from industry professionals.

In addition to learning about internships and job openings, students are encouraged to ask questions about research topics, potential career paths, recommended classes for specific career paths, and more.

Executive Education

Bring high-value, customized training in a variety of areas directly to your employees. We work with corporations of all sizes to achieve their workforce development targets, solve real-world challenges and expand employee knowledge base.

Examples include:

  • Our FE Exam Prep course prepares professional engineers and graduating and recently graduated students to take the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering (FE Exam), also referred to as the Engineer-in-Training Exam (EIT).
  • The Forensics Conference brings together the best of academia and industry for an exciting exchange on advances in forensics engineering.

Sponsored Research

Work with faculty and graduate students tackling the biggest challenges in industry and society. We help leaders at innovative companies advance their technical roadmaps through sponsored research projects and other mechanisms. Companies also partner with UT researchers on large competitive grants.

Student Projects and Programs

Enhance educational programs and resources available to help students become well-rounded engineers. By becoming an affiliate, companies can get in on the ground floor of exciting new technologies, applications and possibilities.

Companies and individuals can also participate in annual events including Hackathons, which thrive on collaboration and mentorship. There are several ways to contribute—whether you’re bringing real-world challenges from your organization, offering guidance, or simply connecting with students.

  • Bring a Problem
Industry partners are invited to submit real-world challenges for students to solve. These problems form the foundation of the Hackathon projects and give students exposure to relevant, impactful work.
  • Mentor
Graduate students, industry professionals, or sponsors can serve as mentors, supporting student teams as they brainstorm, prototype, and present. Mentors provide guidance, answer technical questions, and help students stay on track.
  • Judge
Faculty, industry professionals, and sponsors are invited to evaluate student projects during the final showcase. Judges provide feedback, assess innovation, and help select winning teams.
