2025 Outstanding Young Alumnus Sorit Ganguly

B.S., The University of Texas at Austin, 2012

With nearly 14 years of engineering and commercial leadership at ExxonMobil, Sorit Ganguly has developed and executed on some of the world’s most complex, multi-billion-dollar energy and infrastructure projects – including ExxonMobil’s flagship $1B+, 385-acre global headquarters in Houston, which is recognized as one of the largest and most sophisticated LEED-certified developments in the world.

Sorit’s career has spanned leadership roles in engineering, finance and corporate strategy, including serving as chief of staff for a key global business division. Today, he drives strategic business growth initiatives that enable clients to accelerate decarbonization and unlock energy efficiency using next-generation technologies.

At UT, Sorit served as ASCE treasurer, championing fundraising campaigns for key student programs. He also founded the International Speakers Bureau and launched UT’s U.S. Green Building Council Student Chapter – endeavors that strengthened the University’s global engagement and sustainability leadership. He received his B.S. from The University of Texas at Austin in 2012.

A lifelong Longhorn advocate, Sorit remains deeply connected to UT through ExxonMobil’s recruiting and corporate partnership initiatives, including events hosting former UT president Gregory Fenves and former UT provost Sharon Wood. He also directs philanthropic ventures that have raised millions for Texas charities. Sorit’s career has reflected a lasting commitment to innovation, mentorship and impact – shaping institutions, elevating communities and building legacies that endure.

Past Outstanding Young Alumni Award Recipients

Past recipients of the Outstanding Young Alumni Award hold either a B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. from the Fariborz Maseeh Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering. They were nominated and selected by their peers for exemplary service or contributions in engineering.
