About

Zahid Alibhai obtained his Masters in Architecture from Cornell University and his Bachelors of Science in Architectural Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin. Between his undergraduate and graduate studies, he worked as a graduate structural engineer before pursuing a different career path. After graduate school, he moved back to Austin, where he developed his career in architecture to become a Senior Designer within a leading, international firm. Zahid has experience in a multitude of project types and scales – from custom furniture design and high-end single-family residential to boutique hospitality, hotels, office parks, laboratory adaptive reuse, convention centers, and mid-and-high rise towers. He has over 15 years of experience in the building industry across the nation, having worked for firms in New York, Texas, and Washington.

Zahid is passionate about multidisciplinary approaches to the design process, recognizing that buildings are a collaboration between architects, engineers, consultants, and contractors – all of whom contribute to shaping and influencing local culture and society. Zahid has also been a mentor for ACE (Architecture Construction and Engineering), a national organization that teaches high-school students about the disciplines within the built environment. During his time as a lead mentor, he was awarded Mentor of the Year for Austin.
