The CAEE department offers a desktop and application delivery service that runs on Microsoft Azure. All current CAEE undergraduate and graduate students have access to the Azure Virtual Desktop, which allows students and faculty 24/7 access to some Windows based software applications through Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop environment. By installing a client on your machine, you will be able to access software using a Windows or MacOS desktop client.

Accessing Azure Virtual Desktop

If you are using this service for the first time, you must download a client onto your machine. Installation instructions and the client downloads are available for Windows or macOS.

  • Use your official UT email address to “Sign in” when prompted for your Microsoft account.
  • Use your UT EID or official UT email address on the UT Tower Sign-in page. Two-factor authentication will be required.
  • Check “Allow my organization to manage my device” if prompted.
  • Click the “Connect” icon under CAEE Academic Desktops
  • Login to the Azure Virtual Desktop using your EID password

Azure Virtual Desktops can be accessed on campus or off campus using any computer with the Windows App client, but will require a Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection from off campus.  Search for “VPN” at https://tech.utexas.edu for detailed instructions.
