Undergraduate Program

Build a New Future

It is an exciting time to be in civil, architectural and environmental engineering at UT Austin. Our work has become even more important and challenging as the world’s population grows. Expanded urbanization, resource limits and changing climatic conditions mean we need globally minded engineers who will build our future. We are particularly excited about developing new ways to provide for and manage cities, water and energy.

Civil

Civil engineers focus on both the built and natural environment through designing building systems, commercial and industrial facilities, transportation systems and protection and use of air, water, land and ecological resources.

Architectural

Architectural engineers design a building’s systems — structural systems to transmit forces to the ground, systems for efficient indoor energy use and safe air quality and systems for assessing cost-effectiveness.

Environmental

Environmental engineers protect the natural environment and people’s health as influenced by the environment. Environmental engineering includes air quality, water quality, water resources, sustainable energy and contaminant process engineering.
