Build a New Future
It is an exciting time to be in civil, architectural and environmental engineering at UT Austin. Our work has become even more important and challenging as the world’s population grows. Expanded urbanization, resource limits and changing climatic conditions mean we need globally minded engineers who will build our future. We are particularly excited about developing new ways to provide for and manage cities, water and energy.

Degrees

Civil
Civil engineers focus on both the built and natural environment through designing building systems, commercial and industrial facilities, transportation systems and protection and use of air, water, land and ecological resources.

Architectural
Architectural engineers design a building’s systems — structural systems to transmit forces to the ground, systems for efficient indoor energy use and safe air quality and systems for assessing cost-effectiveness.

Environmental
Environmental engineers protect the natural environment and people’s health as influenced by the environment. Environmental engineering includes air quality, water quality, water resources, sustainable energy and contaminant process engineering.

Exceptional Career Prospects
The Engineering Career Assistance Center (ECAC) guides students through the recruitment process with career counseling, workshops and networking opportunities. During their academic careers, students can gain hands-on experience to help prepare them for full-time employment after graduation.

Global Adventures
From just a few weeks to fully-immersive exchange programs, study abroad is a cornerstone of the Cockrell School of Engineering experience.

Leadership & Student Organizations
Find communities who share your passion and feed your curiosity.

Real-World Experiences

Senior Design/Capstone
In their final year at CAEE, students collaborate on a capstone project and presentation.

Internship Support
Students can gain valuable industry experience and networking opportunities while working hands-on in engineering careers through internship programs.
Rokit-ing to Success
Students at Texas CAEE are working on tangible solutions that improve quality of life through engineering.
“I’m excited for not just talking about theory, but for students to put their hands on real projects.”
